Who the heck am I?

As I am reviewing my business structure and have some quiet time I thought I would stop to take a minute to write about myself.

Like many of you, I am a human with many hats.

So, who the heck am I?

I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, Christian, entrepreneur, lady boss, business owner, photographer, mentor, nurse, and the list goes on…

So I won’t start from the beginning of my life… I will just start with the good stuff!

I met my husband July 4th, 2003. I knew from the moment I met him I would marry him. Seriously- I went home that night and woke my mom to tell her I met the man I would marry, and I didn’t even know his last name. We crossed paths twice a little over a month later. Both times were in a crowd and he never saw me, I still didn’t know his last name.

Late February of the next year, my friend introduced me to her friend by saying “his brother is the guy you have a crush on!” Ummmm… she knew who they were the whole time but never let on as such! Ha!

So long story short, Chris called his brother to come hang out with us, and John and I have been together ever since! We dated for 5 years, got engaged, married and a year later decided to start a family.

Fun fact: John bought me a camera and I bought him a gun as our wedding gifts to each other… so we could both shoot things!

MadaLynn was born in 2012 and I found out I was pregnant with Beckett  on my very 1st Mother’s Day 2013. MadaLynn was just 9 months old, so my littles are only 17 months apart! I love these two with my entire being. They are so fun and sweet <3 Beckett is a momma’s boy hands down, and MadaLynn is my mini me! We added a mini golden doodle named Puddles into our family just before Christmas 2017!

I am a nurse my trade. I worked as a CNA, LPN, and RN for many years. The majority of my career was in the Operating Room. I was the ENT and Pediatric Coordinator for the OR. I obtained my BSN after Beckett was born and worked in administration for 3 years before quitting to pursue photography full time. I do work a day or two a week in the OR just to keep my skills up. I truly enjoy that work and will probably continue to work in the OR for as long as I can.

My photography focuses mostly on newborns, children, families, and couples. Newborns are my jam! I teach newborn photography and travel for workshops to mentor others on newborn photography. Newborn safety is a HUGE topic when I teach. I want to make sure that every photographer that I teach understands the importance of keeping these little ones safe!

About My Business:

  • I became an LLC in 2018
  • In my business I do a hybrid model of offering both prints and digitals to my clients.
  • I love love love newborn, fresh 48 and lifestyle sessions <3
  • I am located in Southern Illinois but I love to travel to teach and mentor!

Well, there ya have it! In case you wanted to know! I hope my “Who the heck am I” blog post gave you some in site!

Hello there! Thank you so much for stopping by to learn more about me! I am a Registered Nurse that has found a great love for photography! I enjoy photographing newborns, children, and families. My goal is to capture authentic smiles, real life moments, and the tiny details that bring your mind racing back to that exact moment 10, 20, 30 years from now. I also have 2 children, MadaLynn and Beckett and a wonderful husband John. In 2017 I completed my bachelors in nursing... while working as a nurse and a photographer. I love to laugh and I have a silly sense of humor!
